Bored to tears

Fantastic sequel!

My library doesn't have this on audiobook, so I didn't get to listen to the fabulous narrator, but that means I DID get to read it much quicker! Loved the new characters, the mystery plot was fascinating, and OMG that ending just KILLED. Like, right in the heart, and I literally didn't wait a second before diving into the 3rd book to find out what happens next! Highly recommend you have the 3rd book on hand once you start this one, because you will NOT want to wait to keep reading.

4.5 rounded down

Another great continuation of the series, though I enjoyed it just slightly less than the first two. I can't quite put my finger on why, though I will say that
SpoilerI felt that Alexia "forgave" her husband a little too quickly. I wanted a bit more resolution there after how abysmally he behaved. Also, OMG heart breaking for Biffy! Super curious to see how that plays out in the next book!

I love this series so much! It's a delightful comedy of manners in a steam-punk world with ghosts, vampires, and werewolves. I positively adorable how the crafty world-building makes the novel come alive and the wit and ridiculousness of both plot, characters, and their shenanigans stay engaging, regardless of the # of re-reads.

I can't really beat the already wonderful synopsis you'll find on Amazon (below, so you don't have to go looking). What I can say, is that this second book in the series introduces even more delightfully ridiculous characters and occasionally heartbreaking hijinks.

"Alexia Maccon, the Lady Woolsey, awakens in the wee hours of the mid-afternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. Then he disappears; leaving her to deal with a regiment of supernatural soldiers encamped on her doorstep, a plethora of exorcised ghosts, and an angry Queen Victoria.

But Alexia is armed with her trusty parasol, the latest fashions, and an arsenal of biting civility. So even when her investigations take her to Scotland, the backwater of ugly waistcoats, she is prepared: upending werewolf pack dynamics as only the soulless can. She might even find time to track down her wayward husband, if she feels like it.

CHANGELESS is the second book of the Parasol Protectorate series: a comedy of manners set in Victorian London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking."

* review to come * ;)

Another excellent steampunk/vampire/werewolf adventure with Alexia and her friends and family. I LOVE this series.

Welcome back to the world of parasols, dirigibles, clavigers, and drones. Alexia Tarabotti is back, in all her sharp-tongued glory -- only now she's Lady Maccon, wife of the Alpha of the Woolsey pack, and muhjah to Queen Victoria. Clearly, none of this makes sense if you haven't read Soulless, book one in the adorable Parasol Protectorate series. Alexia continues making her mark on Victorian society, but now with social clout. Firmly ensconced in Woolsey Castle, Alexia is madly in love with her large, loud werewolf husband, despite considering him the most frustrating man in the world. Not to worry, the feeling is mutual. In Changeless, the supernaturals of London are afflicted by a "plague of humanization", and it's up to Alexia to determine the true cause. Along the way, she deals with ugly hats, high-tech parasols, a cross-dressing female inventor, and someone -- or possibly several someones -- who would like to see her dead. All this, plus a dirigible ride! I've come to truly adore these books, and find myself somewhat obsessed with Alexia and Connall's stormy relationship. Ms. Carriger's first book, Soulless, had an exhilaratingly happy ending. The end of Changeless was something completely different, and I'm quite devasted by the fact I have to wait until the release of the third book in September to find out what happens next. Highly recommended.

OMG!!! I am getting book 3 tomorrow at lunch! I can't believe how that ended!!!!!!!
