Still a fun book, even on the second read through. This one is 3.5 stars solidly. And at least someone talked to the narrator of the audio book on this one for the correct pronunciation of character names. It was horrid for Soulless.
Souless, the first book in the Parasol Protectorate was good but Changeless far surpassed expectations. Dirigibles, attempted murder, a particularly nifty parasol and the inability of the supernatural to change makes for an exciting continuation of Alexia, formerly Tarabotti, Maccon's story. Changeless is a thrill ride of plot twists and turns that will leave one breathless and frantically tracking down Blameless in the quickest way possible, no matter the cost. Reading Souless in book form was all fine and good but the audiobook experience was far superior especially under the wonderful care of narrator Emily Gray. Each character had a distinct quality made possible by Ms. Gray with skillful portrayal of each characters voice inflections based on each personality with flawless grace. The confrontation and conversations kept the reader on their toes till the bitter end with the reader wondering what will happen next. Brilliant sequel and looking forward to listening to Blameless, the next installment of the Parasol Protectorate. Highly recommended.
Still wildly entertaining, just not quite as good as the first; although that is likely due to the fact that the idea is no longer wholly original. The cliff-hanger was actually great for me, I spent most of the book thinking one thing was going to happen, and then it turned out to be something completely different! Did anyone else have different ideas as to what the ending would contain? Anyway, over all a great book, just in the shadow of its predecessor.
Jiminiy Crickets! I finally finished this book. It took me forever. I started it in late 2010 when [b:Blameless|7719355|Blameless (Parasol Protectorate, #3)|Gail Carriger|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1293436281s/7719355.jpg|10463674] came out because I kept hearing about a terrible, horrible, cliffhangery ending. I hate waiting for the subsequent book to come out after a cliffhanger. Well I needn't have worried. This book seemed to drag endlessly for me, I kept picking it up and putting it down. In the meantime, not only did Blameless come out but so did books 4 and 5, [b:Heartless|8356487|Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate, #4)|Gail Carriger|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309148956s/8356487.jpg|13210545] and [b:Timeless|11324166|Timeless (Parasol Protectorate, #5)|Gail Carriger|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327890901s/11324166.jpg|13210557].
I actually switched to the audio version. The narrator was quite excellent the book finally began to move for me. I must say after the 5-star love I had for Soulless, this was a remarkable let down. However, it did end on a terrible, horrible, yet exciting cliffhangery, note and it did make me start right in on the next book. Glad to say that the next book has already sucked me in and is a a ripping story so far.
So I am going to chalk this one up as a minor blip in an otherwise good series.

I really do enjoy this series, but the cliffhangers! They aren't too steep, but in order to avoid irritation, it's best to have the next book readily available.
I love Alexia and her pragmatism but I think this one didn't quite live up to the first in the series.
This was just as delightful as the first one. But it ended in a cliff hanger so instead of reading something else next I will just move directly into the third book :)
Simply brilliant! I was ready to give this one a solid 4 stars as I liked the first one just a little bit more, but the ending blew this one straight to 5. A delightful follow up to Soulless and I am putting Ms. Carriger straight onto my Must Read Author pile. Cannot wait for Blameless.
It started out really great, but it became a little disappointing in the last chapters. I guess mostly because the mystery with the humanization wasn't as interesting as I expected. Nevertheless, the book still has the exceptional and funny style of the previous installment, the same cast of hilarious characters and even some new additions, so I loved this book too. But it was a little less exciting than the previous so I gave it one star less.
Took awhile to get going, then it became a somewhat predictable but fun mystery.
