I liked everything except: a, the writing and b, the fact that

Verlaine just kept getting up after being defeated.

But overall this book is everything to me. It's not my favorite bsd light novel since Beast exists but it's definitely up there.

Literally have been binge reading this the last few days and when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about reading it. Loved that it gave more insight into the characters and their pasts and even small details about characters in the background that helps to understand the main manga more.

Kafka Asagiri is a wonderful writer and in more than plot and character creation, the beauty of his words is what sets the lightnovels apart from the Manga. I had to stop several times to simply take in a paragraph that was just beautiful! Apart from that, the characters are fleshed out and complex, living in a world where nothing is truly black or white. Asagiri forces the reader to sit with our notions of what is morality and how we measure it on characters we've come to love and support or hat out of principle. Truly a marvelous read!
