Never underestimate a ninja woman ! Married for many years and still Greg hasn't learned that lesson. No worries he does in this book. Fiona is a wonder woman plus, she's been doing it all nearly alone for far too long. Time to change things up. Hold on folks it will be a bumpy ride, but promised to end in a happy place.

So fantastical and over the top. An Olympic contender to getting a brain tumor to CIA agent, really? She had more than enough content to fill the book, and the CIA thing was an afterthought so the kid napping rescue didn't seem like a total BS half-assed way to add drama. Moreover, the ridiculousness abounded with their son being a piano prodigy, which was barely expounded on and totally useless to the plot. Relationship wise though, it was 4-star, but the annoyances and Reid passing Meg Cabot's level of ridiculousness was irritating to the extreme so 2 stars.

Trigger warnings: cancer, espionage, kidnapping, violence, drugging

January 2023: Unfortunately, this is still my least favorite Knitting in the City novel. The first time I read it, I was really excited about it because it's the only story that focuses on a couple with history. Fiona and Greg have been married for years and have two kids together; their book focuses on a kind of rough patch in their marriage. However, the plot takes an extremely wild turn which personally, makes it hard for me to really connect with the main characters. The traveling, the kidnappings, the drugging, and the overwhelming violence made the story too intense for me when all I really wanted to know about was their marital strife and how they were working together as partners to solve their problems and get better. However, this book introduces Matt and I love himmm. I wish the plot would've been taken in a different direction, but there's always one book in series that you don't like as much.

I always enjoy Penny's books. This was a very hilarious tale of what it's like to be in a marriage. I enjoyed it immensely.

Honestly? This was "meh" to me. Wanted to fall head over heels with the couple and see their foundation restored, but somewhere between the refinery and Lagos I just wanted the book to be finish already.

I felt a real kinship with Fiona, and still admire her so so much, but the frustration I felt with Greg constantly (and every argument turning into laughs) made me nuts. Unlike Fione, I can't love Greg, and simultaneously be mad at Greg.
By chapter 22 I was just flicking through; which was a shame, as Fiona was a fascinating character.
Maybe the book just wasn't for me, but I felt a serious disconnect through most of the book

That was a super interesting read.
One of the things that I love of Penny's read is that there's something smart and witty about them. It's the characters and the language, the concepts and the humor. The combination of all those things plus a fun story always works for me. And Happily Ever Ninja didn't dissapoint in that regard.
The book was kind of weird, as Penny warned us before it was released. But I honestly thought it was going to be extremely bizarre, and it wasn't. It was just different from the other books in the series, and for that I'm really grateful.
The characters were awesome, both male and female lead, plus the children and second characters. Also we got to see the character from the other books and that was lovely. I really like Greg (the male lead) He was swooning worthy and so charming since the prequel, and Fiona... Well she was admirable as a woman, a badass and so kind, I love her, even though at times I wanted to shake her and tell her to just speak her mind without the fear.
The plot was different, but badass and it had a level of action that was fun to read and had me at the edge of my sit.
I honestly can say the book was awesome and I totally recommend not only this book but also the rest of Penny's titles. Her books and stories are amazing, different and fun to read. Can't wait to keep reading the rest of the series!

P.S. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
