Pleasant read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It felt a little like a "story-telling" rather than one that pulled me into the psychology and emotions of the main character, but I didn't mind. It's just something to be aware of. This was a great and simple read.

I found it too predictable. Although, it did hold my interest, so I'll give it that. I just thought the Paper Magician series was much more imaginative.

So much more enjoyable than I anticipated!! And with a different lesson and route to it than I imagined, too. I really loved reading this!

Holmberg's dependable tale-spinning enchants once again in this original story. It has her characteristic slow unwinding, with a sort of rush at the end of rich detail, enough so that once done, I wished there were a sequel or at least ten more pages. Still, though, delightful.

This was such a sweet story! Paced well. Holmberg made a small paperback follow the course of 4 years and avoided tedious downtime and unnecessary scenes.
What a great premise! A girl who is cursed to be as cold as her heart is. Things she touches turn to ice similar to a King Midas story, but worlds better.
And it was a book above loving books too! In fact, that's what the refreshing, natural romance throughout the last half of the book revolved around. A lot of "awwww" moments. I just want to keep using the word "sweet"! So sweet.
Great redeeming main character arc and interesting side characters (Death... you're a creepy and complicated bastard but you're also hilarious) despite the supporting cast not being flushed out very much due to the book's length. That's ok. This dark fairy tale kept me engaged, was light enough to read for a relaxing weekend without engaging too many brain cells, and I was grinning like a fool at the end.
Well done Holmberg!

A very interesting story with an air to beauty and the beast but with a very different twist. I greatly enjoyed the story and was excited on how it played out

I'm rather surprised at how much I enjoyed this. At its heart it's a coming of age tale with a twist and a romantic element, with some action, though very personal. This isn't my usual type of read, but I've liked the other books by this author, and the character's initially unsympathetic nature makes her development even more compelling, and the emotions seemed very authentic and engrossing to me. Recommended.

An antidote

A lovely read. It does feel like a face run through with a heavy dose of antipathy to materialism, narcissism, and greed. Perhaps a good fairytale for all modern princesses.
