I knew I would like this book before I even started reading when I looked at the synopsis. An Arabian inspired fantasy world with a huntress, an assassin, monsters, magic, and lots and lots of middle eastern/islamic representation. The premise piqued my interest to say the least, and after having finished this book I can confidently say it beyond exceeded my expectations. The authors writing style is just amazing and it often feels poetic throughout the book. Her use of showing multiple pov’s but in the 3rd person is done really well and kept me invested in our two main characters throughout the entire story. I love fantasy adventure stories and this has to be one of my favorites of all time. The character development was so satisfying and though the story ended on a cliff hanger, the events leading up to the end of the story were done so well and had me audibly gasping on multiple occasions. Can’t wait to read We Free the Stars and spend more time in this unique world!

I am in awe. Firstly, Hafsah Faizal's writing was so beautiful. The world-building was so impressive. Although the start was a bit slow, just like what usually expected in fantasy books, you would not mind because you would get curious and engrossed with the details and how things were described. It was magical. Arabian culture seems so fascinating. Secondly, I love how the author did not rushed the things between Zafira and Nasir. They don't always have each other's throat just for the sake of being enemies and their interactions wasn't forced. And the tension??? And Lastly, the turning point of each structures of the story was just on the right pace and I think that's what made this a perfect book.

3.25⭐️ I found this book so hard to get into, like the world and magic system were hard to grasp. When I finally got into it, it was over. I definitely liked parts of it, like the twists at the end and when the male MC calls the female MC pale demon and fair gazelle multiple times.
