Im gutted i started on the second book, i completely missed the first- i am going to go back and read the first tho which will hopefully bring a lot of clarity to some aspect, plus just further background to the world and characters which i want. Eventhough it is the second book, i felt it was a good start for me in this world, i really enjoyed it. Im excited to read the first to see to see the correlations. I loved the diverse and complicated characters SO much. I thought they were so interestingly written and well-rounded. They all had complexities to them that made for an intriguing mindset, creating a lot of back and forth as to whether you were rooting for them or not. Im always going to be hooked on an enemies to lovers storyline and this one did not disappoint. However there were a few major cliffhangers making me desperate to read the next one! Bc are they even lovers yet...????? NO! The one thing i was looking for was a strong female friendship/connection. There wasnt a huge amount of the book passing the bechdel test so im hoping for more of that in the other books.
-Last comment is on the intricate and sophisticated language she used throughout the book. I thought it was beautiful and perfectly matched the genre, allowing my mind to go further into a mystical realm. I felt its strengthened my vocabulary even slightly which is obviously fun and done in a way that wasn't pretentious and didn't interrupt the story at all.

4* because I just wanted to keep reading it though not much really happened. It was set over such a short space of time I had to lengthen that time in my head to make certain character emotions and reactions make sense. But the longing and emotions themselves were great. Less lyrically written than the first.

oh heavens this man is crazy. i was giggling, smiling, blusing every time he open his mouth. They have insane chemistry. And the writing is so goooood, the world-buiding just keeps to get better, THE CHARACTERS (omg i loved Hazan anf even more i loved Omid. that sweet funny little boy took my heart)
