I'm sorry... What?
What was that ending? Is that all?
There was too much happening in this book for so little to have actually happened. I was expecting at LEAST 2-3 more chapters to round off this book but it feels like it was just abruptly cut off.
Also, it all happens in the span of less than 24h. Someone explain (hello author and editor?) how such developments are credible over such a short period of time??
I was constantly thrown out of the dramatic moments by the reminder that Alizeh and Cyrus had LITERALLY just met.
Jezuzzz.
3* Because I KNOW this could have been better with a few more chapters and spanning it over a week and not half a day.
Bye.

I can’t even with this girl! I’m 100% team Kamran and can’t even fathom why she might consider Cyrus a romantic interest. Having to wait until February for the final solution to this love triangle is the same sort of torture that Cyrus endure from Iblees himself.

”i look at you and i can’t breathe. in my mind, you are already mine.”
cyrus of nara you’ve charmed me with your electric miley cyrus blue eyes your sleepiness and your pathetic yearning
i think this was more vibes than plot advancement, but honestly i can’t even complain because i feel like it was done well! tahereh mafi’s writing is so beautiful and lyrical in these books, and dare i say that (so far) i think the love triangle is being handled well… in a shocking twist of fate i don’t hate any of the characters involved; cyrus and kamran are equally compelling to me, both as love interests and as individual characters (right now, the latter applies more to kamran than it does to cyrus because of the lack of pov chapters but i do think there’s a Lot of potential. also everytime he opened his mouth i had to pause the audiobook to pterodactyl giggle)
my favourite part of twk1 was alizeh and that remains true for this book too. she’s as kind as she is fierce, she doesn’t take shit from anyone — commoner or king alike — and i understand kamran & cyrus so deeply bc if i knew her personally i think she’d consume my every waking thought as well. i just love her SO MUCH she may be in my top 3 favorite YA fantasy characters.

I didn't enjoy this quite as much as I did the first book, but I still was hooked. The plot in this was pretty slow and almost non-existent to be honest; you could tell Tahereh Mafi was focusing on building on the relationships between our characters, especially Cyrus and Alizeh. As a character driven reader, I was eating that up.
I'm still not a fan of the love triangle thing, but I'm swept away by Mafi's writing and how everything is slowly unfolding. I think my favorite characters so far are Hazan, Kamran and Cyrus. I feel that Alizeh is becoming a bit of a Mary Sue and it makes it hard for me to connect with her.
Overall, I really did enjoy this and I'm picking up the third book immediately.

3.5 stars and even thought the first book has a waaaay better plot (literally nothing happens in this) the way everyone was on edge had me GIGGLING. Everyone was FOUL in these 400 pages, I kept on hearing the boom sound effect. This was just 400 pages of trust issues x trust issues (Cyrus x Alizeh on top!) and kamran was just whining (Hazan was so real) I was fr LOL’ing over here with how done everyone was
