I would like everyone who is giving this book less then a four star review to get their heads out of their asses. First off, I need everyone to be reminded this is a YOUNG ADULT novel. Do you know how many of these I’ve read that don’t *exactly* paint the true experience of being a teen?? (Hint: SO MANY) I think the point of so many of these books are to create a light hearted experience that is reminiscent of being a teenager with all the angst and over emotions. This book I couldn’t put down! I loved the main characters, especially Penny. And better yet it touched on some real issues that I know tons of teens DO personally face, myself included. If you’re looking for light hearted romance and a quick read this is a great one!

absolutely adorable. perfect when your a little tired of the typical “enemies to lovers” toxic mess and just want something wholesome
My main issue with this book was that it was written specifically for teens. If it was an adult fiction book I would have given it 3 1/2 stars. The problem was that Sam and Penny's relationship wasn't the healthiest. Sam would write her back consistently and then all of a sudden become MIA, leaving Penny feeling broken and like she had done something wrong, etc. Also Sam was WAY older than 18 year old Penny. I often felt like the book was trying too hard to make the characters "relatable". Honestly, Sam reminded me of every narcissistic sociopath that I dated when I was younger. It definitely gave me some deja vu, and left me feeling uncomfortable knowing that teens would be reading this and might try to find similar relationships, or think that those types of relationships are healthy. IDK maybe it is just me, and my past relationship experiences, but I felt like this book was highlighting some dark relationship, and communication, aspects and trying to make them seem normal, instead of being red flags.

ya but it felt more complex than is actually usual. i liked all the characters so much
3.5/5. it's a great light read that I didn't have to use much brain. I thought it was decent. I liked it mainly because that I can understand Penny so well with how she pushes people away and she's so judgemental. I am the same way. I see Penny, Jude, Mallory, even Lola in myself. Some plot twists are weird and character changes are sudden but didn't stop me from liking it. Also, who cares? She's just a freshman at this point. Let her have her fun and she'll run into a lot of walls and figure it out. also, ut austin has a special place in my heart so I'm extra biased.

For the love of God stop mentioning heavy topics if you’re not going to explore them properly. Also, why so 2018 coded? Overall not for me - lack of actual connection to make me like the characters and the plot wasn’t cohesive.
I enjoyed this novel and it might be because I am a senior in high school getting ready to leave home for the 1st time. Anyway the love story is complicated but also deep. They understand eachother in a way that no else does. Penny's inner monologue can also be hilarious and I just love the book a lot.
