No amount of cute dialogue can make up for the amount of times the mmc calls the fmc young, little, or cute. 18 to 21 doesn’t have to be weird, but if you keep bringing it up (specifically the mmc worried its creep shit) than yeah, it’s gonna feel like creep shit

Also, I HATE an SA backstory as a 3rd act plot twist. We’re in this characters pov for half the book. You don’t ignore trauma like that unless the author wants to wait to bring it up for the drama.

Currently crying and vomiting rainbows over this amazing book. And THAT COVER UGHHH it’s perfect. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍

I checked this book out on Libby since I had nothing else to listen to and I was pleasantly surprised! I went in with no expectations other than this is a YA read (which I enjoy specifically when I need a good cry and though I did not cry I chuckled & felt genuinely good inside while listening to this.

I LOVED Penny’s character and liked all the surrounding characters around her. They really all mattered for her character development. I seriously enjoyed this as a period read lol!

This is beside the point but I also wanted to full on read Penny’s book she was working on in the book, it seemed so interesting and a different take on the future of AI so 10/10 on that one for me.

I think this book is for YA book lovers, for people who enjoy a good hallmark movie when Aunt Flo is around, someone who wants a book they can just get lost on.

I’ve been in a book slump for the last month. My sister told me to read something light, fun and romantic to break me out of it. She was kind of right (though credit to the slumps end is shared).
YA isn’t my genre of choice, not usually. This book had a lot of great things going for it. The characters are awkward and uncomfortable and weird, and I love them for it. I feel like there were gaps in relationship progressions, but maybe I missed them. The writing style wasn’t always my cup of tea. Some characters felt flat until the last minute. I wish some plot points had been emphasized more than others. But overall, I enjoyed it. The next time I’m feeling down or in a slump, I might give it a quick re-read.

Penny and Sam basically being a copy of each other will never not be funny to me like they act the same and talk the same and even dress the same?? soulmates if you ask me

I didn't dislike this book, I just had a problem connecting with it. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the book itself, the fact that I listened to the audiobook (I always have a tougher time connecting when listening), or if the timing was just off. But overall, this book was just okay for me. I liked the main characters, but I didn't enjoy reading Sam's chapters, so that kind of alienated an entire half of the book for me. On top of that I don't enjoy reading books about people who are writers (don't ask me why), and that made up a lot of Penny's chapters. However, I did love the story Penny was writing, and I kind of wish that was the book I was reading instead.

annoying main characters. writing felt strange. lost count of how many times i rolled my eyes or cringed. just could not get invested at all. also i forced myself to finish this via audio and the penny pov was so loud and the sam pov was so quiet. i was constantly adjusting the volume, so annoying.
