I don't really understand what the purpose of this book was. It had no plot or character development.  The only thing I enjoyed was the history information at the end of the book about the real life people.

I read this for a buddy read using my Kindle.  I got Alexa to read it to me. I zoned out so many times while listening to it I can't even tell you what it's about.

This book was absolutely delicious. I wanted to read it slowly to savor all the clearly well-researched historical details, but so many big questions pulled me forward quickly, most of all, what would happen between da Vinci and this tiger of a girl? Loved reading a YA historical set in Italy at this time--absolutely unique and compelling!

Got 20 pages in and realized I really didn't care to read this book. Nothing about it sounds entertaining to me. I was going to give it a go since it came in one of my subscription boxes but I'm doing this new thing where I don't force myself to do things I don't want to... So not reading it.

This book began slow, and continued slow for a large portion of it. Rich with detail, I often found myself either skimming over paragraphs, or completely entranced by ththe vivid imagery being expressed.
This story follows historical figures, combining facts, assumptions, and flowering in fictional moments to string the story together it created a relaxing yet enthralling read.

An interesting, fast read. I loved reading historical fiction as a child and teen, so it was fun to read it again. I thought the ending was a little rushed and sudden and some of the dialogue seemed too modern. I did enjoy learning new things about the Renaissance era, as well as the subjects of love and friendship.

I wasn't sure when the climax was, so it ended rather abruptly. Just the story of a woman's life with no particular emphasis on any one part. Extremely historically accurate though, down to the street names.

This is not a book I would typically choose. Although I do read historical fiction, this book is different.
I feel that if I knew more about Italian history, I would have enjoyed this more. There are some elements of this society that I was unfamiliar with and did not fully understand.
The story is the portrait of a young woman who does not have a lot of control in her life. She is moved around like a pawn by powerful men in an attempt to gain more power and prestige. In the midst of these maneuvers, she meets two artists. A sculptor and a painter. They are commissioned to create her likeness and she forms an attachment to one of them.
It is a well written and interesting story of a time period and a woman with little control of her own life. I feel that I would have enjoyed it more if I had known about the societal customs of this time period.
