This book has been sitting on my kindle for over two years. I have tried to read it so many times but I always got to the third chapter and gave up. This time, however, I made myself continue and I've very glad I did. I did struggle to get through it and sometimes nearly gave up just because I was so confused by all the names and things but I got through it and enjoyed the book very much! Although the ending was spectacular and I want to see where Kaz and Inej go and Matthias and Nina and Jesper and Wylan happen, I don't think I will be getting the second book immediately. For now I can live without it but I hope to read it in the future at some point!

Six of Crows Series Book #1

The character development in this book was wonderful. It was the best thing about the book. It made the world build and plot pale in comparison, making it unbalanced for me. I did find reading about the characters and their pasts very interesting. I found everything else dragging and boring.

I am still debating to myself if I would want to pick up the next book in the series and give it a chance or not. Even though I found most of the book dragged for me and I was bored, the characters were that good to me that I may give it that chance. I'm just not sure if it is enough to motivate me to pick up more when I have so many other series that I love.

Guys, this is one of the books that haunts you even after you've finished the last page!

I just couldn't get the whole Grisha world and the captivating story out of my head! I'm still stuck in the Six of Crows world and right now, I don't wanna get out of it. And seriously - finding books that spellbind you to their worlds and stories is not the easiest nowadays. So let me live in this bubble for a little longer! Going straight for the sequel, I just can't wait to know what will happen and how it will happen!

It's this cruel reality of the Dregs and the neverending urge to know what Kaz's scheming ends up to and if he really manages to do all the things he claims he'll do and HOW the heck he's supposed to mange all that let's you keep turning the pages and read and read well past an acceptable hour late into the night.

I think the intriguing storyline of tricks, theft and malicious arrogant business man/women combined with the humorous, wicked, brutal and compassioned characters we find in the Dregs crew let's you love the story even more.

*spoiler ahead*

My toes curled as Kaz cut through the guys eye as Inej was stabbed. And my toes curled every single time when Inej and Kaz were alone and the crickling intensity of their relationship went flaring into every direction. They have the weirdest, or better said, one of the most unusual love relationships I've read. But that's what makes it so special! Even if they share so little in the sense of physical touch their whole relationship goes deeper than one might first expect in the beginning.

"Kaz pulled out a clean pair of gloves, snapped up his walking stick, and headed out the door.
"I'll be back in a couple of hours. Move the DeKappel we lifted from Van Eck's house to the vault. I think it's rolled up under my bed. Oh, and put in an order for a new hat."
"Please."
Kaz heaved a sigh as he braced himself for thee painful flights of stairs. He looked over his shoulder and said, "Please, my darling Inej, treasure of my heart, won't you do me the honor of acquiring me a new hat?"
[...]
Inej crossed her arms. One minute he made her blush  and the next he made her want to commit murder."

So exited to read on!! Definitely a book worthy of reading content as well language wise!

This book was truly my gateway drug into the world of YA literature. I had tasted it before in The Mortal Instruments, but I never retained it or really held onto that obsession as I aged out of middle school. But then, I took a rare trip to Barnes and Noble and saw a beautiful hardcover book with red lining the pages when closed, and I fell in love. I brought the book with me camping, and it filled quiet hours with some of the most fun I've had reading a book. People say all the time there are some series they want to forget and do all over again, and this is one of them. This book defined my sophomore year of high school. Kaz is such an incredible character, modeled after Bardugo herself, and each one of the characters must have a piece of her in them. They have their own sparks of life in them, from their individual personalities and the way the clash, and later mesh, as a gang of teenagers, was like nothing I'd ever read before. I eventually got the audiobook, which has an incredible cast of readers, and years later I realized that Arthur Morgan (Roger Clark) was in it too! Everyone did an amazing job at further bringing to life the characters I'd imagined in my head. I was ecstatic when I found out Netflix would be adapting it. However, I think nothing can compare to the book. In my opinion, it's better than Shadow and Bone, if only because the protagonists are much more fleshed out and feel cleverer than her. If Book Alina and Book Inej ever really met, I feel like the energy would be a little more hostile than it was in the show.

This book earns a 5/5 from me for the enjoyment it brought to me at a specific time in my life, and because it feels so fresh every reread. The best YA book I've ever read. <3
