4.5 stars only because the book was a little anti-climactic, and I would have liked to see some of Wes and Mal's college interactions. Otherwise a great, sweet, easy read!

I LOVED IT!! I would have rated it higher if I could. Everyone should have a Wes in their life. I loved him and Mal, they were so sweet together. I would have been finished earlier but of course life got in the way, LOL. I want more of Wes and Mal. I would love to know how they're doing now. Great book by Missy Welsh, she is now on my autobuy list!!

Update:12/16/16. I'm rereading because it's been updated extensity. I loved it the first time I read it in 2010 and I'm sure I will love it again.

2nd Update:12/17/16. ***I loved this book when I read it the first time in 2010 but with it being revised and extended I loved it so much harder. From the first pages I loved Mal and Wes! Watching them fall it love was just so adorable and beautiful. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.***

Sexy and hot! Not a lot of conflict and I feel there is lots more to come in the subsequent sequels (if they are written) but a nice easy read.

This was such an easy, enjoyable read. It was sweet and sexy with just a touch of angst.

The story begins with recent high school graduate Malcolm observing what he considers his vanilla pudding life. His new neighbors, though, are anything but vanilla - especially their oldest son, Wes.

After years of being bullied, Wes is the first real friend Mal has ever had. Through his attraction to Wes, he discovers his sexuality, which results in some pretty steamy scenes.

As I said before, the story was pretty light with only a few tense moments spattered throughout. While I think that things could have been a little less cut and dry, sometimes it's nice to pick up a book that's just an enjoyable read, and that was certainly the case here.

I actually really enjoyed this book (despite its god-awful cover). Not the absolute sexiest book I’ve ever read, but still had some steamy scenes for sure! I loved Mal’s internal monologue, like when he was wondering if he was the ‘girl’ in the relationship, but then he was like, wait isn’t that misogynistic? And also isn’t the point of being gay rooted in us both being men??? I really lived for those moments. Also shoutout to Mr. and Mrs. Kinney — the only straight people I trust. Okay, the whole Kinney family was just...goals. Parents? Who actually like each other? And are happily married? And in a healthy relationship? I don’t know her!! But the Kinneys do!

Ummm... No.
Waaaay too fast. They knew each other for like 2 seconds and then they were moving in together? No. Nada.

Holy shit, this was so good! Sometimes you just need a book with mushy happy feelings. Where the MC's are awesome and beautiful and everything is going to be ok, you know?!

But I really wish there was more to read about Wes and Mal, because boy, do I love them. So please, give me more?!

Malcolm Small was spending his summer hanging out at home bored. His parents wouldn't let him work because they were not "working class" people. So he sat on his porch just contemplating how much his life sucks right now, while some new neighbors moved in.

The new neighbors had a son named Wesley Kinney, and Mal set out to become friends with Wes before the neighborhood kids got a chance to poison Wes with their false allegations about his sexual orientation.

Immediately Wes told Mal know that Wes was gay and proud of it. He would not hide in the closet for anyone. Mal wasn't gay but was constantly tormented by school bullies who called him gay and beat up all the time.
So Mal has a dilemma, would being friends with an actual gay guy put in him in a worse. more precarious situation because school kids would see their friendship as tantamount to a confession that Mal was gay, OR should he risk the continued public ridicule and become friends with the new guy.

Mal decides to become friends with Wes and through their friendship, Mal is finally able to be himself and feel connected to someone else.

The 1st half of this book was nice, but how quickly Mal flipped caught me by surprise. I was found it a little unnerving that Wes decided that Mal was gay even though Mal told him that he wasn't. Wes decided to just touch him, flirt with him and make passes to a guy 6 years younger who was looking for a lifeline.

I liked Mal, but I am not sold on this relationship. I liked that Wes and his family had a lot of love to give where Mal's family couldn't be bothered with him. Perhaps the length of the book affected my enjoyment as well, but there was way to much sex in the 2nd half. It took way from my enjoyment of their budding friendship.

After some emotional exhausting and dark reads in the last weeks this is a great follow up. It's a sweet, sunny story without big dramas, angst or darkness. I liked it and I loved the characters.
