This should be required reading in high school. Lots of great info on how finances work.

This book offers a great introduction to personal finance! It helped me build my first budget and gain the freedom of spending confidently.

The author is more tolerable than most personal finance experts, but I have to give this book one star because the section on student loans is misleading and contains wrong information. There are a couple requirements to the public service loan forgiveness program that weren't listed, and it's not strictly true that you lose all "perks" if you refinance/consolidate federal loans (and it wasn't true at time of publication, either).

“Money is already a taboo subject to discuss in our culture, so speaking up about not having enough or not finding value in the same things as your friends seems socially repugnant.”

Attempting to get my financial life in check, I picked up this book because, well, let’s be honest, I’m a broke millennial. Despite an introductory finance class back in high school, my “money knowledge” is quite laughable, especially as a recent college grad and someone trying to make it work in the big city. From emergency funds and tangible budgeting to exploring financial advisors and managing investments, the author tackles the important issues nearly every millennial has faced.

If you already have a good grip on financial tools and the very basics for financial planning, you may want to pick up a different, more in depth read. For those of you who may not be as money savvy as you should (literally me) this is the perfect starting point!

The book overall is definitely for beginners. I would likely gift it to my niece graduating high school. For those starting out, it has good content that isn’t written in a dense manner. Erin lays out complex concepts well and doesn’t “scare off” the reading audience. I think her target audience is potentially the people who tend to shy from this type of topic and need more encouragement.

If you don't know anything, then read this book. While some people may be well versed in the world of money, I am not and have been searching for book to help educate me. I highly recommend, if you're trying to figure out how to control your money rather than the other way around.
