I wish I would have read this book at least ten years ago, although younger me probably would have been even more annoyed with all the millennial jokes.

Mostly read this because I was curious about her book on investing, and figured why not start with her first one? Luckily, most of this book didn't tell me anything I didn't know, but I did learn some things here and there, and appreciated her general guidelines on budgeting and savings goals.

Would I recommend this to other people well into their 30's? Probably not, unless that hypothetical person was financially clueless and needed to start at the very beginning. But it would be extremely helpful to anyone just starting their post-college life.

Not a bad book in terms of content, but one that felt pretty tone deaf to a millennial who didn’t grow up in a wealthy or even upper middle class family. I didn’t necessarily think the book was condescending as much as showing the naive monetary incredulity of someone who has always lucked out. I live in a well-educated and not inexpensive small city in the northeast, and the majority of people around me (including retirees and mid-career and emerging professionals) are living essentially paycheck to paycheck. Some of this is mismanagement, but a lot of it is just not earning enough in relation to the actual cost of living, housing, healthcare, etc. I found it frustrating to realize that even “millennial” branded financial advice is coming from a wealthy millennial. Can we get us some social justice finance? I’m just sick of hearing rich people talk about how easy it is to be rich like them.

Loved this for introductory information and the straightforward way of explaining and illustrating how various money topics can look for millennials. As someone who's been actively working to educate myself on money for the past few years, I didn't find much new information to learn, but I did appreciate the stories woven into the lessons.

Great book to keep on the shelf and refer back to for so many different points in time or money aspects. Easy to read and understand too!

2.5/5 - I LOVE to read these types of books as 'friendly reminders' or to check things I may have forgotten about (is my bank still FDIC insured? Am I putting my money into the correct investment accounts? etc.) and hey, there is usually an added bonus of a few new tips and tricks that you can look into. This book was great for ALL of that. BUT, and there is always a but with these "Millennial" niche reads...the author was SO condescending!! Using cringey words/sayings that somehow us Millennial's are known for, the last few chapters...WOOF!, and overall left me with a BAD taste in my mouth. Would I recommend this book? Nah! There are others out there that don't make you feel like a complete failure if you don't have X amount of money saved up by the time you are 25 or try and put you down because you have to move back home with your parents (hey, life happens and sometimes it's inevitable). Skip this one.

Lowry gives a lot of solid personal finance advice. It's directed, as the title imies, to Millennials in their 20s and 30s. It's written in a fairly relatable way for that age group, though sometimes it feels gimmicky with the hashtags and cultural references.

Overall, there's lots of good stuff to build financial literacy for those who didn't grow up with it. But it's clearly aimed at a specific group.
