Read this fat-positive romance as part of the Read Harder challenge though as a fat person I wouldn't call this a "hard" read so much as a welcome read ahaha

A light, quick read with some reflections on teaching, wealth, parenting that added depth to the otherwise straightforward romantic plot. I appreciated that the main character's fatness was commented on but not centered--it wasn't like they fell in love "despite" her being fat, you know? Anyway the writing was just okay, too much of the expository dialogue was contrived for me--people just don't get to know each other with fully formed philosophical speeches the way the characters in this book did. The other thing that I had trouble getting past seems small but the cover art is misleading to me--the people on the cover look like they are in their 20s but the characters are in their 40s, the male lead has a teenage daughter...it's just a different vibe than what I expected and I don't know why it bothered me as much as it did. ANYWAY I'm interested to read another book or two by this author to see other ways she tackles fat romance (oh btw the sexy times scenes were decent in this book!) since more fat representation is awesome!

This was exactly what I needed right now. The way Olivia switches so many romance tropes on their heads in this book is amazing, and I have all the time in the world for straight romance books if they all include Martin's.

Also, the way she writes consent? In and out of sex scenes? *chefs kiss*

I thought that this story was really sweet. It was good, even encouraging, to see two divorced people navigate each others' traumas. They listened to and supported each other. Sex wasn't amazing, but I also liked how they discussed consent and their likes/dislikes. I wish more people did that.
