i was pleasantly surprised by this. i absolutely loved it. read it in under 24 hours. martin krause is THE man that ANY politically progressive feminist with trauma could want. i fall under that category, so this was perfect for me.
the romance was so sweet and so secure and trusting and STEAMY and couldn’t have been written any better. THE COMMUNICATION. impeccable. can annette and alfred be my ex in-laws? please. i will fully take advantage of all that money they wanna spend on me. i also, as i assume most people do, LOVE the “guy falls first” trope. seeing martin so openly love rose and completely accept it, even when she was still closed off, was refreshing. sometimes, SOMETIMES, men are okay, at least when they’re written by women.
the plus-size rep was also executed very well. it wasn’t a large part of the story, and it wasn’t something that our mc, rose, was very insecure about, but it still addressed the stigma around fat women. that is how i believe it should be written. like, stop making books about fat girls entirely about insecurity! make them strong, powerful, confident women who know who they are and love themselves for it. that’s the message that we should be putting out for plus-size people. make them escape into a novel where they feel seen and NORMAL. not make them read more about their insecurities and how it affects them.
i always love a good workplace romance, especially when executed so well, and both characters are invested and care about their job just as much as the other.
overall, i really don’t have many complaints about this book. definitely a new favorite, and i look forward to read more from olivia dade.

Thoroughly enjoyed. The spice wasn't there for me, just because of the way it was written, but I'm sure it would work for someone.
