3.5 stars. I enjoyed this, but I wanted to like it more than I did. I think part of it is just that the romance felt a little one step forward, one step backward, and I prefer a more gradual but continuous progression, if that makes sense? And this is 100% personal preference, I'm not saying because it was written this way it was BAD, just that it's not the type of romance I tend to gravitate towards. But I liked both main characters, I loved all the school stuff (and honestly could've done with even more of the teaching and figuring out lesson plans and dealing with school politics and all that stuff). And I DID like the two leads and how their bond grew, and I loved the stuff with Martin and his daughter (Bea was wonderful), and I loved Rose and her relationship with her in-laws and how much they loved her. This was still very cute and good, even if I wished I had been more invested in it, and I'm glad I read it and would check out more by this author in the future.
A cute story (and so nice to have normal-looking MCs for a change!), but their connection didn’t feel incredibly organic.
It’s fine, just a major let down after the spoiler alert series which was so fun and sexy and great.

I enjoyed this, I liked how respectful Martin and Rose were of each others pasts and how they allowed each other to tell their back stories in their own time. I also enjoyed Rose's ex's parents, probably the highlights of the book for me!

The MMC is nearly perfect (except his belief that a man doesn't need a Y chromosome). The FMC is lackluster and at times ridiculous.
Graphic: Cursing, Sexual content
Moderate: Bullying, Child abuse, Misogyny, Death of parent
I love Olivia Dade so freakin' much! I absolutely adored the way the characters' issues were discussed (in such a healthy! and accepting! and boundary-respecting! and kind manner!!) and she absolutely takes the crown for soft male leads, Martin was an absolute star in this!!
(absolutely did not fucking care to know this much about the US education system, though, and all those bits while - possibly (?? wouldn't know anyway) realistic - bored someone unfamiliar with it out of their mind and kind of interrupted the flow of the story; i get how they are important to the story, but still)

Fun to read about teachers and fat female romantic leads, but the story telling was missing the butterflies component.
