This is my first Olivia Dade book, and I enjoyed most of it. However, the minute
Martin (the male love interest) decided she had to go to prom with him or it was over... I was over Martin. He says repeatedly that he knows how hard this is for her, and yet he will not budge to help her get there at all. The book even says they had never gone on a solo date in public before. Why would the first step be prom in front of their STUDENTS and colleages (some of who are antagonistic towards them)? Martin acknowledges it's unreasonable and yet... he completely breaks it off with this woman he "loves" because of this one decision? Weird. I don't know why Rose's boundaries had to bend for him and not the other way around or some attempt to find a middle ground.
Before this moment I liked him a lot, but afterwards I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. Over all, I just wasn't pleased with the ending.
medium-paced

Thank you to the author, Victory Editing and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review. Being a teacher, I was instantly drawn to this book, this is a lovely and adorable story.

This was a sweet, easy, low angst book to read. I enjoyed the slow burn romance and getting to see both parties pov and how they slowly began to understand each other. There were definitely some dull parts, but overall I had a fun time reading this

I know I read them out of order but there were major spoilers at the end of this book for the second book in the series!

I should have enjoyed this book, but I simply couldn’t get through it…

I got bored. The pacing is pretty slow, stopping the story often to give context for several pages. It just wasn’t to my taste but I’m sure someone else would love it
