4.25*
dade's writing is so lovely and easy to get into, idk how she was able to build these characters up sm in less than 300 pages and pay equal amounts of attention to all of them, I truly cared about everyone in this book including the side characters,
and the two mcs had such a healthy relationship and communicated for once??
and Bea was such a sweetheart? I don't remember the last time a teen wasn't a complete asshole to their parents in one of these
I could go on for hours about how wonderful this book is

4.25* instead of 5 because big public declarations of love give me secondhand embarrassment and I was legit screaming the entire timeđź’€ other than that I LOVE THIS BOOK. NEW COMFORT AUTHOR UNLOCKED, MAYHAPS???

History teachers Martin and Rose both have baggage. When they meet at the beginning of the school year, Martin is intrigued by Rose who does her best to cement her Ice Queen status, but spending time with Martin begins a slow thaw.

This was my first read from
this author, but she has several books living in my endless tbr. This book is told in third person dual perspective. There was only one narrator, which took a bit of getting used to, but Ms Navarro did very well.

It was really great reading a book with full grown adults as the main characters. They were both mature and knew what they wanted and needed, even if getting those needs met hurt. The side characters in this book are so well formed and three dimensional. It really made the story ring true. I loved Rose’s former in-laws. Any scenes with them had me smiling. Well, most of this book put a smile on my face. The students were also realistic. I hate books where kids/teens are written more as a parody of what they should be as opposed to a real version of a young person.

The chemistry between Rose and Martin shot off the page. I loved the slow-ish burn of their romance. I wouldn’t call the sex scenes, steamy. They are more sensual and sexy than smutty. (Which is my favorite kind of sexy scenes)

-4 stars-
I love Olivia Dade- and this was the first book that I had ever read by her. It also was the first *spicy* book that I ever had read (period). Although I do think she really finds her voice and style more in later books, this book's a gem. It was nostalgic to re-read.
Martin's a total babe and I love him.
Rose may not be the most relatable FMC (as a plus size person- it's HARD to find fashionable clothes that fit well, and I could never live in heels), but she is fabulous and she is fun to dream about.
