I am...conflicted about this book. It is a good and well written story, which is why I am rating it the way I did, but there is something off. On the one hand this feels realistic, the two leads have damage and understandable boundries. On the OTHER HAND why does Rose have to be to the one to bend on HER boundaries?
They had been 'seeing each other' (aka hooking up and hanging at each other's houses) for a few weeks and he wanted to tell THEIR COLLEAGUES AND STUDENTS? And when she UNSURPRISINGLY balked at the idea, he dips? Then SHE has to do this grand (and unprofessional) gesture at the staff meeting to win him back?
No MA'AM! STAND UP! It might just be me projecting, but if I was dating a coworker, (a huge NO in my book) I would be hesitant to announce it to the rest of the staff too! Especially in a school setting!!
Rant aside, I did really love Rose's character. She gave me BIG Capricorn Venus vibes. She compartmentalized like a CHAMP and had a killer wardrobe! Martin sure was there too! I am KIDDING, mostly. What I will say is that I liked what a good listener he was and how attracted he was to our Rose! Love seeing a Big Girl win!

Probably more like 3.5 stars, this isn't a particularly ambitious romance novel. On the other hand, it does a lot with a situation with no billionaires or dukes, without much in the way of picturesque locations. Instead, we have two forty-something nerdy high school history teachers being given their full on story including the scars of their pasts and a significantly kinky sex life.
