Putting aside her relationship with Colten and Damian- I loved Jenna's character growth so much when it comes to her relationship with her parents. Her character often talks about how the grief of her sister tore her family apart and that her and her brother's existence wasn't enough for their parents to stay together. She even mentioned that maybe they wished it had been her instead. Reading about her views on her parents as a child and then seeing her finally understand their grief and separation as an adult was really touching and brought out her character.

It also helped me understand her thought process when it came to Colten and her forgiving him. Which- by the way, fuck that guy. Colten's character was introduced in a way that I first thought "oh, we met the love interest already? can't wait for the HEA!", but I was so wrong. Colten is a piece of shit who basically put on a mask and created a version of himself that he knew Jenna wanted in a partner. Hell, I wonder if the whole dog situation was a play as well. (Also, the Stephen character was weird too idk what that was about.) Then when he couldn't keep up with that version of himself, he created he snapped and showed his true self.

Truthfully, I was a bit worried that Damian's character was going to be written like a cliche where he basically rescued her and then BOOM they're dating, but no. He was just a friend with his own trauma that wanted to help before eventually after a while that changed.

Overall, I loved reading this. Spoiler:
[ Normally I'm not a fan of the HEA with a baby trope, but this was an important HEA for both Jenna and Damian. They both bonded over that strained relationship with their parents and how they viewed them growing up, so them becoming parents seemed fit.
] The ending was very emotional and tragic, and I only wish the HEA could've ended with no deaths. (Except Colten bc fuck that guy.)

FMC is infuriating - and her choices don't make sense after what she went through with DV. This book isn't what I went into it thinking it would be, and not in a good way. And the ending, WTF.
