It’s a good book for those looking for a cute little stalker-mystery/“knight-in-shining-armour” romance. There’s a HEA. It touches on mental health slightly and the smut isn’t detailed. It is NOT a full fledged dark romance.
the second love interest is more misunderstood than morally grey. It only touches on the MMA world than being included in it. R.I.P. Justin. I normally read really dark romances to give you perspective on where my review is coming from. But this is a soft romance palette cleanser for in between my dark romance series’s that I read. I enjoyed it for those purposes but I am unlikely to come back to the author for a dark romance.

This book was SO addicting to read. The plot was fantastic and truly shows how abusive relationships can escalate and make the victims feel. I felt all the emotions with Jenna.

Didn’t hurt we have the same name

This book, was absolutely heartbreaking. Ugh. But it was really good.

The main plot is a girl who has a tragic family past, moves to Chicago and meets this wonderful man who she begins a relationship with. And all is beautiful and wonderful, until one day it isn't. And he becomes violent. And she gets caught in a cycle of abuse, trying to leave and going back. Until one day enough is enough and she tries to leave for good, but he won't let her go. Her brother and a new friend, who just happens to be an MMA fighter, work hard to protect her.

While this story goes have a happily ever after, it is not without a lot of tragedy and loss. The amount of trauma these characters go through is just, it's a lot. I cried throughout this entire book and definitely need to go watch a Disney movie to pull me out. But it's a really good book. It really takes you through the stages of abuse in relationships. How it starts small and the escalation. The isolation and manipulation. It's so easy to judge stories when we hear about them, but when you're in the situation, you don't realize how slowly it starts.

This book was a really good read. I enjoyed it, and I'm glad we got a happily ever after in the end. Definitely check trigger warnings and know that there is a lot of trauma in this book.

This is really more realistically categorized as a chill thriller/suspense/mild romance than true, true romance. This book follows Jenna and Damien on their slow (and think snails pace) burn romance and Jenna running away from/out manoeuvring her ex-boyfriend. The triggers in this book are very real and head this warning that if domestic violence, spousal abuse, loss of children and family are close to your heart - you need to skip this book. The suspense of what’s happening with the dynamics of Damien/Jenna/Colton is intense and make the book addictive because you have to know what happens. There is zero spice in this book so if you are looking for YA level spice but adult level action and themes, this book is perfect. The ending makes me upset as I feel there is so much left unsaid and I wish we had more closure on a lot of things.

I liked this book! It’s weird but I like how the author included the backstory of the first relationship the way she did
