This is the first book I ever read from Janet. Absolutely. Loved it. I laughed out loud often and loved the characters. Very entertaining.

It was funny, but Alex Barnaby is no Stephanie Plum and Sam Hooker is no Joe Morelli. I may be interested in reading the next one…haven’t decided yet. I got this on audiobook, and I didn’t like the reader, so maybe that’s why. 3.5/5

Funny and very entertaining!!

This is the first Janet Evanovich book that I read rather than listen to on audio and I must admit that, while I liked it, I prefer to listen to her books. I chose this book because I knew that I would like it (because of previous experience with the author) and because I was spending hours at the hospital with my father, I knew that I could pick it up and put it down without losing the thread of the story. The story did not disappoint. Instead of Stephanie Plum in New Jersey, we had much the same type of character, Alexandra Barnaby, but in Baltimore, Maryland. However, the action in the book takes place in Miami, South Beach, Key West, Naples, Florida, and a deserted island off the coast of Cuba. Lots of action, lots of snappy one-liners, and lots of jeopardy. But all in fun. I think that I'm going to like this new series.

Even though this has a lot of the same characteristics as the Stephanie Plum novels and I was honestly not expecting it to be as good or funny, but I really loved this story and it definitely had me laughing. Barney and Hooker make a great team!

Cute book. Dialog and intelligence of the book not of the Eve Dallas/JD Robb books but similar in fun to other Janet Evanovich books.

Oh yes, this was just what I needed after Faust. See, it's not always about the language. This may not be a poetic piece of prose but it is FUN.

Okay fluffy fun...you knew everyone was going to survive and that the guy would get the girl at the end, but it was still kinda funny to watch.
