I think Ronan Farrow is the second coming, and I will follow him into the fire as he leads us all to higher ground. I didn’t love this book, though. His prose had the tendency to just string facts together, and it was hard for me to digest. I look forward to the documentary!

It was okay. I get the general thesis and think I agree with it, but RSF comes across as out of touch. E.g., he points out how ridiculous it is that Tillerson asks state department employees what they can stop doing, as if this is ludicrous, and yet that's a standard question part of any consulting repertoire. It's indicative that Rex was doing the right thing, and the state department was out of touch, rather than the other way around as implied here. There are other similar instances throughout that clutter the otherwise-decent argument.

Incredibly thorough and as engaging as a 300 page foreign policy tome gets (at least for non-experts like myself). That said, I found myself struggling through at times because I didn't come in with a strong working knowledge of the cast of characters. That's my fault, not Mr. Farrow's, but it's worth noting for other readers with my casual level of knowledge.

Key reading to any American with an eye towards diplomacy.

I really enjoyed a glimpse into the world of diplomatic work. The information presented was a key to understanding the headlines of the last ten years. An enlightened read and I look forward to Ronan’s writing in the future.
