An interesting little nonfiction read. Compellingly written in narrative form and a very intriguing topic. Not really emotionally gripping or hilarious, just interesting.

I liked the little intermissions of art crime history in the beginning, even if it did slow down the pace of the book. First half is pretty slow, but by the midway point I did care about finding out what happened.

I read this for a bookclub I am in and was pleasantly surprised by it. I think I have a soft spot for criminals who have a passion for their nonviolent crimes hahaha the story was compelling and while contested whether or not Stephan truly loved the art (because he stole so much of it) but I really do believe he stole not only because he's clearly a kleptomaniac but out of a misplaced passion and appreciation for hoarding history. In that regard, he is very European LOL

Interesting read!  While non-fiction, most of it read like a story outlining the numerous art thefts and then legal cases.
