Ok I wasn't expecting much from this book and only picked up the series because of all the hype on book tube. The first 100 pages or so were pretty interesting but after that was just a mess. I'm trusting the booktube community that this gets better as the series continues.

Tengo que admitir que esperaba mucho más de este libro pero de todas formas los personajes me gustaron lo suficiente para seguir leyendo los demás, siento que fue un libro muy introductorio y eso fue lo que hizo que me tomara mucho tiempo leyendo, pero disfruté demasiado las interacciones entre los personajes. Y espero leer más de la pareja principal porque ya los amo.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would even though you could tell it was a product of its time and there were some themes and plot points that wouldn’t fly these days. Honestly it felt like watching a mindless teen drama and I ate it up

gossip girl level of school drama with unusual well-crafted vampire world-building. Love Richelle Mead’s prowess in story-crafting. But it’s book that was published in 2007 in it shows. Also it’s unbearable to read so much of russian stuff included during russian aggression and war crimes. So I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did in the past.

The world building was kind of slow but I stuck with it because I love vampires. I kept reading until one of the girls starts describing her interest in one of the guys at the school and I did a double take. I thought it was building to the two female leads getting together. I was not expecting a supernatural version of Degrassi.
