This book is shockingly pretty good. I read this originally in 9th grade and I assumed it wouldn’t measure up to my reading standards now, but it totally did. The writing is simple but the characters are really lovable and fleshed out. If you enjoy Throne of Glass, Rose is VERY similar to Aelin in her personality and narration. The romance is slow and almost not there, which I like because it makes the moments that much more rewarding when they do happen…

Overall, good.

The book wasn’t that bad. It was really straight forward and to the point. At first I wasn’t really invested in it because of all the high school drama; however the setting was in a high school so what else should I have expected. But due to that, I felt like the plot was dragged out. I understood the lead up to it but the fact that I had to wait til I was 85-90% done with the book, for me to be somewhat intrigued, was a little irritating. Also, Rose irritated me most of the book. She was so obnoxious and conceded in my opinion. Hopefully the second book is better and gives more detail into some of the characters.

Die Geschichte von "Vampire Academy" Band 1 konnte mich wie erwartet vollkommen überzeugen: Eine schlagfertige Protagonistin, die spürbare Freundschaftsbeziehung zwischen Rose und Lissa, ein durchdachter Handlungsaufbau mit einigen Twists und die magischen Akademiegefühle. Im Grunde hat mir alles gefallen, das wusste ich jedoch auch bereits im Voraus durch den Film aus 2015. Dadurch dass ich die Verfilmung vorher kannte, war die Handlung inklusive der Wendungen für mich nicht überraschend, das Leseerlebnis zwangsläufig etwas umspannend. Dafür möchte ich aber natürlich (!) keinen Stern abziehen, weshalb ich diesen Band nicht bewerte
