These are my comfort books. Rose Hathaway is a great character. She is a strong and empathic character; I love a strong female lead.
I LOVED this book so much! I love all the characters in it especially Rose and Lissa. I really related to Lissa a lot and the guys in this are so amazing. It is just so entertaining and I never wanted to put this book down. I was hooked at every page.
This is an interesting one!
On the one hand, it isn't great. Its a little bit overplayed as a trope and some of the dialogue/character development is ridiculous. But...
On the other hand I love the boarding school setting and the idea of the Dhampir and the Moroi which actually sets it apart from the usual 'there are vampires and there are humans' set up. The scenarios in the book fit very well with the age of the main characters, but the pacing is a little bit too quick at times which ruined my suspension of disbelief.
All that being said, it is very readable when you don't want something too heavy, so I am going to try the next book in the series and see if it improves as the story develops and hopefully find out where the Strigoi came from

Had I read this at the age I think it was intended for I would’ve eaten it up. I hate/love? to say it but I found a YA that is actually truly YA.
Well.. That took me a while ! I started this book six month ago and couldn't go further than page 50 but in not entirely sure why. Probably the time wasn't right for me and I needed to read something else.
When I got back to it a couple days ago it felt different, I was way more into it. And even though it might not be the best book I've read this year it is definitely a great start for a series that I assume will be epic.
People say it gets better and better with Vampire Academy... I say bring it on !
