Warning: this book will make you angry.
I will be short: read this book, especially if you're a health care provider. Just listen and search for the research mentioned in this book before dismissing it as "This can't happen here."
If you're not black, but part of other underprivileged groups (based on wealth, gender, or sexual orientation) you will probably realize that your well-being is being similarly weathered in modern western societies.

Villarosa examines how racism negatively impacts the physical and mental health of people of color. Black Americans are her primary focus. This is well-researched and fierce. Villarosa pulls no punches. She presents the data plainly. Her argument is solid. I learned so much from this book.
