Okay...that was a lot.
Overall I loved this book. I felt like Nesta's journey was written so well and took so much time - like it was really great how it wasn't too easy, it really showed her progress and setbacks repeatedly, which felt realistic. Also her and cassian - yum. But then all of a sudden it was like she realized she'd written 680 pages and suddenly had to wrap it up and then crammed everything into the last 70 pages. There's so much left unresolved - like the entire autumn court, Tamlin, the rumbling war... like I need her to write more asap. Also as much as I loved the story, I missed hearing about Rhys, Feyre, and the rest of the people in the central group. I wish it'd been more balanced.
Having said all that I feel like the majority of the book was brilliant, which is why I gave it 5 stars - just an unsatisfying ending.

Honestly, I thought this book would be hard to read for me. I loved Feyre and got quite attached to her. And since this book is from Nesta’s perspective, it is quite different. But I really liked it. If you’ve ever had any mental health issues, you might find your struggles in Nesta’s struggles… I did and it was very validating. Overall the story doesn’t progress that much, it does deal with how a lot of us struggle with an internal invisible darkness.

Absolutely loved the character growth and life lessons, I do wish there were a few more quiet casually intimate moments between Cassian and Nesta though.

The only ACOTAR book that made me cry. Well-written with an interesting plot. I could not put this down
and this book definitely wins the best smut award for Nesta x Cassian
. The messages about hope sometimes felt a bit cheesy / over-the-top / in-your-face but it’s a nice message and not too constant. I guess my biggest complaint is that it felt like the plot was very elaborate and intriguing only for a lot of it to end up in a wash in the ends. But overall excellent, fun to read, with believable character development and relationships (SO important!).

Look, I’m not gonna lie, when I found out that this book was going to be centred around Nesta, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it that much. I didn’t feel like I could root for her initially, probably because she reminded me of someone in my life who hurt me. However, she totally grew on me, I grew to understand her more and I really loved the journey she went on. I felt emotional about it all really.
I already loved Cassian and this book just made me understand and love him more.
Only criticism really is that the ending felt rushed. It was kind of a slower read for me compared to the other books but the last few chapters - SO MUCH HAPPENED! I would’ve maybe liked less stairs and more depth on these later chapters but really I’m just being picky. A really emotional, dark, inspiring and contemplative addition to the series.
