didn't grab my attention. felt like it was making fun of pretentious people but it was written by one of those very people so the satire was toothless. plus there was this weird pattern in the writing of like a highbrow metaphor followed by a lowbrow one to describe the exact same thing/situation, felt like the author wanted to have her cake and eat it too, prove she can handle ~fancy~ writing while still being down-to-earth. which ultimately just comes off as entirely insufferable

A Touch Of Jen meets Girl, Interrupted. A fun, engaging listening experience.
A dark novel mostly about debauchery and indulgence, laced through more than healthy degree of PTSD. A book that both condemns and delights in the hedonism of being young and bored in the Berlin of 2009. It is a book that plays with interesting, if not particularly original, ideas in a fun way. It worked as an exploration of these themes, and shared a mood with Supper Club, which was a similarly mixed bag. However when it tried to make its plot stick and come together it never quite worked.
This was so vibey. I love art dark academia!
It was definitely slow to get started but once it did get started it was intoxicating. These characters were never satisfied and constantly chasing the version of themselves they thought would bring them happiness. With a lot of pills, depression and toxic friendship this created this bottomless pit on darkness. Some really good twists, although, one of them to me was a little cheap... buuuuuut that one on the last page was stunning!!!! Overall will definitely look forward to reading more from this author.
