How tf are the ratings for this book so high? I clearly am not the target audience for this book. If you enjoyed it, I love that for you, but for me, this is 0/5 ⭐️ would not recommend.

You mean to tell me the ghosts that tormented this woman the whole book decided to team up with her in the end to beat up the “bad guy”, and he’s just like ok cool I’m not as powerful as I thought when friendship comes into play. What kinda My little Pony, friendship is magic fanfic did I just read?

3 ⭐️ This book had such potential to be creepy and spooky. Instead it starts off almost comical in how the main character was interacting with the ghosts so I didn’t take them seriously at all. Like a woman showing up with an axe wound to the face should be creepy but instead she’s described as a ghost house keeper who keeps rearranging the house in goofy ways. Or the little boy ghost who constantly bites the main character and it’s just played off as a quirk if the ghost. Then as the book progresses you’re supposed to be getting more and more creeped out as things get more serious but the way the foundation of the book was laid out, it just never felt scary. So bummed because there actually was potential with this one. Think American horror story season one but as a comedy.

This was my first time reading a cozy horror book, and I gotta say—it was a great intro to the genre. I really liked the psychological twists, and how some parts were creepy and scary while others were actually pretty funny. What a great book for a debut—definitely enjoyed it
