This book was definitely not for me. I love haunted house books and was excited to read it based on so many good reviews. But I didn’t like anything about it. Definitely not an author I will read again.

It was an interesting adventure! By the halfway point you start to form theories which are then thrown out. Fun!

 was surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. It read much less as a typical haunted house book. It slowly builds an unreliable narrator and you find yourself trusting and believing her and then pivoting to questioning her and then back. This book was really artistically done. I hated the characters but loved the writing and the weaving of this story the author did. There are parallels between the trauma that Margaret has experienced and her time in the house which is slowly built into the story thru her reconnecting with her daughter. it's really a well told story.
