dni @ p. 123. the blatant cisgender woman bullshit combined with the vapid “fashion chakra” was too much for my delicate heart. a fun read for folks who aren’t actually witches but like the astronomy aspect & think “moon circles” are all the rage. very ra-ra sisterhood.

It has a lot of information on various subjects but it definetly talks too much about how witchcraft can only be done by women and how it "empowers" them. Sure, be all you want to be but denying a big part of history in the community was made by men (indirectly) is wrong, confuses me even more cause she named Feri tradition and Wicca which where most well known because of men.

The author seems cool and genuine after following them online for a while. This book though was not it. I felt disconnected from the beginning with how heavily gendered it was. It also read as straight facts vs opinion/personal practice and I yelled: “omg nooo don’t listen to this Tumblr post!” on many occasions. I didn’t drop the star to a 1 for being so anti-everything I am because if it works for you…it works. Do what makes you happy I guess.

Good book with helpful tips for witches. Note for the baby witches, the spells can include lots of different ingredients, but intentions are more important. Also she mentioned closed practices and products that witches that are not from that culture should not use (eg. white sage, palo santo and smudging)

A wonderful beginners guide for baby witches!
Gabriela goes over all the basics you’ll need to know in order to start your practice and provides a lot of references, charts, and beginner rituals.
There was a lack of explanation as to why things are the correspondence, but I don’t believe it was meant to be a deep dive guide; there was a lot of encouragement to smudge as well and with white sage. The book is written by someone who (I’m sure) is non-indigenous, smudging or using white sage is a closed practice and I feel should have been mentioned in the book, and not encouraged as much as it was.
I’d recommend if you’re thinking about starting the craft or are just curious.
