This was written like a fanfic... HOWEVER, that doesn't NECESSARILY mean it was bad. It was written like every good fanfic I've read but even as a good fanfic, it is still levels below what I expect from a full novel. The writing was simply amateur. There was a lot of repetitive language,  cringy lines, Gen-Z type vocab (hot minute/second; vibes), and the worst offender: body parts performing actions (e.g. my fist punched him.) So, for the writing alone, I had to drop a star.

THAT BEING SAID! Like any good fanfic, despite the amateur writing, fucking hell I was entertained. And like any good fanfic, I SPED through this without any issue. I gobbled it right up. And I'm not gonna lie, I did enjoy it!

At first, I was a bit put off but both Maddox and Devon being basically the same person. And that was still a pet peeve for me. I am more a fan of two worlds colliding, or opposites attracting. But Madd and Dev literally were the same person with MINOR changes made to differentiate them. Trailer park 'trash'. Check. Drunk parent. Check. Absent parent. Check. Supportive older brother. Check. So, to me, it meant there really wasn't much unique character work to admire.

It is hard to talk about the plot and the romance without saying, yet again, that it's written like a fanfic. Only one bed. Accidentally pulling a towel off the waist. BUT, I did love the energy between Madd and Dev. I LOVE the concept of loving someone for matching your energy. I love how much their fighting turns them on. I just enjoyed it but it definitely wasn't life-changing in any way.

I had a hard time choosing which boy I liked more, which is always a plus for me. I don't like being more invested in one partner than the other. Where Maddox had the sex appeal and attraction, I really liked Devon's personality and loud mouth. I do think he's better at shit/dirty talking than Maddox for sure.

Overall, it wasn't a waste of my time. I enjoyed it!

this is such a wonderful read, there is so much angst and turmoil between the two as they figure out whether or not they want to fuck with each other or just fuck each other... and i was cackling with little squeals of laughter or little pursed lip smiles during all their bantering and scenes together. It is a definite must read for those that like hilarious and steamy angst, realistic "poor living" lifestyle, with some bad boy/boy from the other side of the tracks MM romance.

I DNF’d this the first time I tried it. Too much squalor. But I have a new appreciation for Nordika Knight and this always gets on best of lists so I tried again.

Still too much squalor, the conflict with the dad and its resolution was way too unrealistic, and the whole hate relationship isn’t my jam. I mean, I am a non violent person so maybe that colors it, but punching your boyfriend in the face seems abusive.

It was an okay story, though. Not her best, but glad I finished it. I ship Nate and Xavi.

Me? As in me giggling and kicking my feet like a teenage girl? Noooo, you saw nothing. It's a trick of the light! ( ಠ Д ಠ )୨

This was very different from pretty much any other enemy to lovers. I saw it explained as enemies to enemies who love each other. Spot on. This one helped me get another step out of my book slump!

Wow! I listened to the audiobook and it flew by. I didn’t want it to end and was relieved that there was a second book.

This book has some of the most intense chemistry that I’ve ever listened to.

I can’t wait for Lot 62!

This book just wasn’t for me. The two main characters were simply annoying and dumb. Their pointless hostility and rivalry were exhausting—especially because it never improved. I found the epilogue scene absolutely absurd and, honestly, even hurtful. The “lesson” Maddox wanted to teach Devon was really low. Sure, Devon might not have asked the question directly, but he brought it up—and it always takes two to tango. You don’t need to force someone to say everything outright.
The dumb plot twist with the father was just frustrating—he only goes to prison for a year? I get that it was just meant to set up the next book, but it felt really cheap.
