Wow! I listened to the audiobook and it flew by. I didn’t want it to end and was relieved that there was a second book.

This book has some of the most intense chemistry that I’ve ever listened to.

I can’t wait for Lot 62!

English:
This book just wasn’t for me. The two main characters were simply annoying and dumb. Their pointless hostility and rivalry were exhausting—especially because it never improved. I found the epilogue scene absolutely absurd and, honestly, even hurtful. The “lesson” Maddox wanted to teach Devon was really low. Sure, Devon might not have asked the question directly, but he brought it up—and it always takes two to tango. You don’t need to force someone to say everything outright.
The dumb plot twist with the father was just frustrating—he only goes to prison for a year? I get that it was just meant to set up the next book, but it felt really cheap.

Ohh, this was unexpected! I really enjoyed the story, the characters and their dynamic. There was no boring part in it and I devoured the book in 2 days. The development of their relationship, the thoughts and concerns of Maddox and Devon and the storyline involving garron park and their shitty lives with abusive dads worked fine for me. This is truly a enemies-to-lovers story, where the enemy and competitiveness aspect stays strong till the end and the love language are flying fists and the obsession over each other.

It's not a top tier deep story at all and the actions of these two sometimes don't fit to their age and made me cringe a bit - but well, what should I say - I was entertained, nevertheless! Expect a semi-light reading experience where the tropes hover in a mid range, but don't pull you in a deep state of feelings and emotions (at least for me, but I'm a sucker for strong angsty stories, my threshold might be distinctly higher :D). The same goes for the smut - on some points I missed a proper "foreplay" or build up and more emotions, but it was hot and I enjoyed them too.

Overall I'm looking forward to the second book and how the story continues. There are still things unsolved and things unsaid, which builds a great suspense for more.

My tropes and rating
- angst 3/5 - for me still a low-to-mid angst, the depth is not strong enough
- enemies to "lovers" 4/5 - they both are true heart rivals till the end :)
- hurt/comfort 3/5
- physical love language 4/5 - fists are flying, chests are being shoved... but for good ;))

Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes but it’s so difficult to find it written well.
I dislike angst , rivalry and animosity without much substance or logic, it just tends to turn the story into some form of high school drama.

This particular book didn’t work for me mainly because the MCs are 25, so by no means highschoolers but their behaviour certainly doesn’t reflect that.

There seems to be plenty opportunity for depth here, particularly given that the entire story is based on the characters surrounding , upbringing etc but I feel that the author has given up the opportunity to really explore this in favour of just throwing lots of pointless aggressions around . A little disappointing.

I think I loved this? Rated it 4 stars but couldn’t get them off my mind so I had to go back and add half a star.
