I started reading this book knowing that it is very appreciated by many readers. I was not disappointed. It is a great story that well deserves all the praise and will always have a special place in my heart.
What I think is so special in Maddox and Devon’s story is the transmutation of hate in love, the way in which the power dynamics translates in a very spectacular sex dynamics. Almost like hate becomes the fuel for a great romance and the relationship itself is, in a way, a power struggle between two very masculine and tough individuals. Many times, in a relationship between two men, the power boundaries are often blurred and there is a certain amount of competition, possessiveness that makes it really difficult to communicate or agree on even the most simple issues. These difficulties are deliciously exploited by Nordika Night in a way that feels authentic, funny and captivating in the same time. The writing is very well balanced, almost like a low key, slow burner with true character voices that are fascinating and inspiring. I also appreciated the world-building, the grim and yet realistic Garron Park universe that adds colour and value to the story of all the characters.
I certainly recommend this book for romance lovers and I think it is a staple for the enemy-turned-lovers genre.

With the amount of swearing in this book I feel it's only right by saying it's FUCKING amazing I had so many laughs about how petty they constantly are towards each other, I'd give this a 4.5 because I loved it but I felt the need to go for 3.5 seeing as I'm not completely on board with the physical violence between a couple in a relationship but I respect the dynamic and love the book.... Basically I love me some tough motherfuckers.

Hands down one of the best legit enemies to “lovers” enemies I’ve read in the longest time. These men (not boys) MEN, did things to me and I’m jumping straight into book 2.

While I kind liked the setting and the way the story was built, I just could NOT get over the ways Devon and Maddox spoke to each other. They fought like children when they’re both 25-year-olds. I got sick of it

Neither hated nor loved it. It had many lovely moments, their first kiss was particularly memorable, something I don't usually pay attention to. But overall I think the continued character development was a bit lacking. I understand why it's a favorite among MM readers.
