full of banter a witsy come backs and fight and love and urgh, it’s great

I loved it. Loveeeeeeeeed it.

I cackled through it all. I loved the setting, I loved their relationship and their dynamic. They grew together and that was adorable.

the enemies-to-lovers trope is great and the bonding between maddox and devon was really nice during these vulnerable moments that each of them goes through, but this book was way too repetitive. we'd get the two of them hooking up, both of them individually going to their respective brothers to not want to talk about it but also talk about it, or just have the brothers being nosy and asking about it, and then they'd eventually hook up again, and then the exact same cycle would start over again. plus the two older brothers who are besties getting together in their future book is a little cliche to me.

Kicking my own ass after taking so long to read this book.

It had been on my TBR for awhile, and I had seen it recommended on Instagram a bunch but had always found other things that 'needed' to be read first. Moronic. I should have immediately put everything aside and just read this, and then all of Nordika's back catalogue while I was at it.

This book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. ACTUAL enemies to lovers. Not the enemies to lovers nonsense where the animosity is built upon a simple misunderstanding but actual - can't stand the sight of your fucking face and will punch you, and often, kind of vibes. Maddox and Devon are both hot messes but they are hot messes that learn to bring out the best in each other after they fumble around for a bit trying to figure out that hhmm actually, along with punching you I kind of want to kiss you too?

It was fucking swoon worthy which I didn't think would happen given the primary location for this book is a trailer park. Watching these two idiots figure out how to be together was just everything and I loved the chats and advice they bought sought with their respective brothers (who are also idiots).

The story primarily focuses on Maddox and Devon figuring shit out, but there is plenty of drama offered up by Devon's piece of shit father to keep things outside of their relationship moving and interesting as well. It had a two steps forward, one step back kind of vibe for the whole story but geez every single inch these two gain was well worth it.

This is that comfort read that I'll come back to each year when I'm in the mood for this particular flavour of M/M romance.

Nordika has immediately been moved to the top of my automatic buy list and I can't see that changing any time soon if she keeps delivering delicious treats like Garron Park and Little Demon in the Details. Do yourself a fucking favour if you haven't already and just read this shit. ASAP. Your welcome.

Deets:
* M/M
* Book 1 of 2.
* Enemies to Lovers (but also still a bit of enemies

I would write a review but I’m dead. Deceased. This book killed me. Read it so you can join me in the afterlife where we can gush on this book.

MM enemies-to-lovers in a trailer park? yet somehow incredibly dull?

never a will they/won't they; more a question of how many times they'll punch each other before they make out

A spicy good time!

The speeches and inner monologues got a bit repetitive but the setting and fighting made it special.

I don't really feel the need to read book 2 though. It doesn't leave off on a cliffhanger.

This book was so frustrating!

There's several small plot holes (one example is when Devon notes that Maddox and Xavi are sitting outside their trailer when he and Nate drive past. He spends time with Nate continously until Nate drives him to the cabin. Once there Nate says he drove Xavi up there earlier and Devin accepts that? How does that make sense? And there's a couple of times something like that happens but I cba to list them all).

The MCs are also supposed to be 25, be dirt poor, and deal with parents that have addictions, mental health problems and/or are abusive and yet they lack a lot of maturity. It would make more sense if at the start of the book they are 17/18 perhaps and mature over the course of a year or two into the relationship they end up having.

It's also never explained why they started to hate eacher other. There's a throwaway line that they used to be friends until I think age 10 and that Devon's father encouraged the rivalry but that's not really an explanation? At least, not for the level of animosity they display.

If these issues were rectified it could easily be a 4 or 5* book. There's a lot of fun in their fighting, and I enjoyed Xavi and Nate's relationship as well.
