Really different from what I usually read but I did actually enjoy it more than I thought I would. Not really a fan of dark/toxic relationships but for some reason I loved Devon and Maddox’s dynamic
Loved this!
These two idiots have such an interesting dynamic and I loved Getting to see them settle into their relationship and seeing them figure out what a relationship looks like for them!
They care about each other so much and I love That as much as they fight with each other they also fight FOR each other!
Excited to read book 2!

I really enjoyed this one, it was an easy, fun read with delicious amounts of tension, angst and spice.
I do agree with other reviews that the characters sometimes felt more juvenile than their stated ages, even if they’d been reduced by a few years I think it would have read better. But I also accepted that perhaps they wouldn’t be particularly well rounded adults given their upbringing, so perhaps this was intentional? It was honestly hard to tell.
Regardless, I will absolutely pick up more books in this series and it was an easy 4⭐️

2.5/5
Not gonna lie, I'm proud of myself for finally finishing this book. I tried to read Garron Park four times because I got the arc and I don't like leaving them unread, but every time I picked it up, I put it down at some point because I just wasn't feeling the story. I don't know what exactly changed at my fifth attempt, but to my surprise I even enjoyed it — I mean, it was far from perfect, but I had fun. Sometimes. There was a moment when I thought I might even rate this book four stars, but as you can probably see, that didn't happen because then something changed and I suddenly started wondering if I should give it two stars at all.
But let's get to the point — my thoughts.
I'll start with our main characters — Devon Sawyer and Maddox Kane. These two were supposed to be twenty-five year olds, but they behaved like sixteen or seventeen dumb teenage boys. I know they grew up in poor conditions, but they were just stupid and stubborn. I have to admit that sometimes they were stupidly funny, but most of the time I just couldn't believe what they were doing.
If I had to choose two sentences to describe the romance between Mad and Dev, they would be:
The whole "I hate you, but want you" thing was pretty entertaining at first, but after a while it got boring and repetitive. I just wanted them to get a grip and grow up. I know they were rivals on the track, but the book didn't even focus on that much.
In rivals-to-lovers stories, I usually wait for the moment when they finally give in and kiss — or do something more obviously — but here, while I have to admit the first scene was pretty intense, I skipped the rest because all the tension between our two main characters somehow disappeared and it became boring to read. Perhaps that's because most of the intimate scenes had no build to it happening. One chapter ended with them talking, and then suddenly the next started with them already in action. Maybe it's just my preference, but I personally find foreplay and build up to it to be the best part.
Their hygiene — yes, I literally have to mention it here. The author kept reminding you how dirty they were. Their fingernails, their clothes, their hands, everything. I pretended they were clean because I couldn't imagine it without yelling at them to go take a shower.
Lastly, about the word "fuck", which was used 876 times. In different combinations obviously, but 876 times. It’s not that it was a huge problem for me, but at one point it was used at least five times on a single page, and out of curiosity, I decided to checked how many times the characters said it in the book and I got shocked.
I don't know what else to say, I think that some people will definitely love this story and these boys, but I don't think I belong to that group. I know that I rated it low but I'm even curious how the story of Mad and Devon will continue so maybe I'll reach for the sequel. I'll see. Nate and Xavi are also one of the reasons why I could do it, because their dynamic is quite funny, but as I said, I'll see.

Loved the setting. It was very unique to have two hero’s who aren’t rich. Loved these guys. Sometimes the anger/lust got a bit confusing. But it is a duology and I will happily read the second one.
