This is one of the most magical and atmospheric books I've ever read. I loved the world building and the characters, as well as the adventure we followed them on. I'm not a big fantasy reader at all, but this is definitely my all time favourite fantasy book out of what I have read so far, and will probably be quite hard to beat. I can't wait to read the second book in the series when it is released in paperback (because no matter how much I loved this and want to read the second book immediately, you will not convert me to a hardback reader).

An incredibly rich, atmospheric, heartbreakingly wonderful middle grade.
This story had so many layers - a captivating plot, some of the most impactful quotes I’ve ever read in a book & deep themes around found family, grief, loss & love.
The ending is what really shined through for me & pushed it from a solid 4 stars to a 5 stars. It came together in a way I wasn’t expected & had me tearing up.
If you are looking for a middle grade that’s a bit spooky but filled with great characters, an adventurous storyline & beautiful themes then you will love this book!
