This just touched me to the soul. The obvious respect and passion for jazz is one thing, but then how Dai’s love for it inspires and reaches others, to push them to do something as big as be the best doctor in the world to as small as ‘pass these tests and be fine’ is so affecting. And how he would not be here without the support of his father and brother, and how even ‘mundane’ jobs like a car service place is its own artistry and touches people. Life is about passion, whatever you are passionate about, and when people see you in that passion it infects them and spreads.

And the artwork is so soft yet realistic, beauty in the mundane. These look like real people, and they’re beautiful for that, especially as Ishizuka nails the expressions so well. The littlest joys to the highest highs to the stinging disappointment all written over their faces. And how the world pops when Dai plays to convey the strength of his playing, and how the only thing left in focus is him, drawing you in. The sequence where he plays at the festival is a showstopper, so immaculately paced, and it shows the reach and power of jazz, of passion. That little girl will be imprinted into my heart, such a pure awestruck love for something magical. The only thing keeping it from a 5 is that repeated groping gag, but besides that this is just fantastic. I gotta read the other volumes.

Rahhhh je sais pas ce que je pense

Déjà premier GROS problème pour moi : le sexisme quoi c’est relou, en un tome dès les premières pages t’as droit à une agression sexuelle (vite fait relevée mais plus présentée comme une sorte de blague — utilisé comme un ressort comique même et c’est ca je crois qui me dérange profondément, genre m’inclut pas moi lectrice dans ton sexisme crasse je rigole pas avec toi —, et ensuite d’ailleurs y’a une remarque présentée encore sous forme de blague « ah il s’attaque pas à mes petits seins évidemment » non c’est pas possible j’suis désolée) + les remarques sexistes des qu’une fille apparaît dans une case (ex : au moment du repas une meuf mange et un mec lui dit attention tu vas devenir grosse)

PEUT ON SAVOIR CE QUE CA APPORTE A L’HISTOIRE ? Rien merci donc on pourrait s’en passer pcq ça me GÂCHE la lecture

Ensuite beh c’est un shonen en fait ? Ou en tout cas ce premier tome a le rythme d’un shonen et ça me gonfle je crois… okay tu veux devenir le meilleur jazzman mais c’est vu et revu je veux devenir le meilleur quelque chose, on s’en fou

Et ça m’a frustrée pcq à un moment il rate un truc et c’est touchant c’est un moment de désillusion de retour à la réalité, et j’avais le coeur brisé et je voulais continuer à sentir cette émotion sauf qu’une case plus tard il est là « même pas mal » (littéralement)

Et cette attitude shonen me fatigueeeeee
