A sweet little read. Loved Poppy and Struan. This book is more of a slow burn; it takes quite a while for the MCs to get together. However, their chemistry is good throughout, and both characters are extremely likeable.
I've never seen the movie, so I can say how closely it follows the plot, but I found the book fun and entertaining! It's easy to let a little lie snowball, so I sympathized with Poppy and how her act of courage got blown out of proportion. Struan was a bit highhanded at times, but I could see how his childhood would lend to that kind of behavior - he had to decide for himself what to do, or run the risk of being hurt or swept into gang activity.
The ending seemed a bit jam-packed with action, after the plot had meandered a bit on the way there, so the apologies and declarations of love came pretty quickly. I'm not sure I'll hang on to my copy of this one for a re-read, but I'll definitely be reading the rest of this series!

“She opened her mouth to protest, but his mouth covered hers. Claimed her. It was the only word for it. This was a taking. And she the taken.”
This is advertised as a While You Were Sleeping retelling and while it did hit some of the beats, I wanted MORE. Also, I expected comedy and this is so not a romcom. Also, the hero has a little too much disregard of consent for my liking. There was potential here, but overall it was only ok.

I had a hard time getting over the complete implausibility of this scenario and its (fun and seemingly intentional) similarity to While You Were Sleeping, but I enjoyed this just the same for an easy breezy read. 2.5 stars.
First book I’ve read by this author. I wasn’t expecting the Duke to remain in a coma for almost the *entire* book, so that part was a bit disappointing. The love story between the FMC/MMC was good but not great. Still interested enough to see if it gets better as the series progresses.
Adding a Duke and Scottish brogue to While You Were Sleeping-- an entirely fantastic fantasy.
