The lack of quotation mark in this book really doesn’t do it for me. I’m usually fine with books with no plot, I love a good character study but in this case the characters felt so distant and it felt like I was only reading descriptions of art and country side the whole time.

Kind of heartbreaking. Reminded me a little of Tell the Wolves I'm Home.
This is the story of three people, told by two of them. It's the story of first love, which can never be equaled or forgotten by one, who is forced to watch as his other half finds the type of love that allows him to live freely. And the other, who makes a terrible choice that winds up eventually costing him everything.
Not a lot of action here, but if you're looking for a slow-paced, tragic literary LGBTQ+ love story, I'm sure you could do worse.
4 out of 5 stars.

Tin Man by Sarah Winman: 3.5/5
quite beautiful and a little heartbreaking. it delves into this almost-romance between Ellis and Michael but i wish there was more! i think there could’ve been more on Annie’s character, and just kind-of felt unconvinced on how they all worked together. rly loved the little moments between characters.

This book had been on my TBR for so long. I finally managed to grab a copy from the library and I am so glad I did!!
This book is so hard to review, it left a lasting impression on me. The story is told in such a beautiful, melodic way.
At first I found it hard to read the speech within without speech marks. It was a strange method to get my head round, however I soon fell into the rhythm of the words and it seemed to flow really well.
Told in two halves from the perspective of Ellis and then Michael gave depth and understanding to the characters and their stories.
I felt desperately sad for the character of Ellis, it seemed that he had everything but nothing at the same time. The love of two magnificent people and with that tremendous happiness and heartbreak. His tale was melancholy yet beautiful.
Micheal then told his side and his tale was absolutely devastating yet dazzling. He brought so much colour and so much emotion to the story.
The whole book was gorgeous, I went through the wringer and felt quite bereft at the end. But I will forever remember the tale of two young boys and their friendship. I highly recommend this one.

This is somehow haunting, and hopeful at the same time. 4⭐️
