Beautiful prose with complicated, thoughtful characters. The timeline jumping and perspective shifting confused me at first, but it all came together and made sense in hindsight. Overall, a really reflective read.

the writing is beautiful, and the “point” of this book aka to highlight little moments etc was done perfectly
but i still just don’t feel 100% sold I guess! i wish i knew more about the characters. but also the way the relationships in the boom were described made me feel things like i was there with them
it’s also a pretty quick read even if it’s quite sad 😭

What a beauty of a book. Winman wastes no time in getting to the heart of human experience. Life is so, so sad, but oh! the moments of beauty and grace that we get to experience make it so very worth the sadness.
This is one of those books that I had to put down every few pages, sometimes just to think about what I had just read, sometimes to let out a little sob. I loved Ellis and Michael and Annie. You will too, if you have a heart.
