A disappointing work from Ms Clark who usually delivers a page-turner. This book was labored for most part. There was precious little in the form of interesting story there and the whodunit factor was never really there. You are bound to guess the One even if you read this book half asleep. Her efforts to camouflage are very obvious and experienced whodunit readers would have no problem in unraveling the mystery a good 100 pages before Ms Clark reveals it.

I also am unable to understand why Jesus and his letter needed to be involved. They have no part in the mystery. The valuable item which serves as a motive for the murder could have been anything. The only plausible reason I can think of is Ms Clark's desire to gain some mileage for herself from the renewed interest in biblical history generated by Dan Brown's "Da Vinci code". Cheap stuff..

But the book has its better points. I enjoyed some of the characters - Alvirah and Willy in particular are an enjoyable couple. I wish Clark had indulged in more humor with them. Also, its a typical Mary Higgins Clark thriller. So you do feel engaged through most part of the book and it moves along at a brisk pace.

There are way better books to read from Ms Clark.. you can skip this one easily.

This book is making me question my taste level when I was younger. Has Clark always been this clumsy or is this a recent development? Everything felt so jerky. No natural progression, no gradually dawning realizations. The characters were stereotypical and flat. I was frustrated. Also I don't know if it was possible for there to be more unloveable characters. The murder victim began an affair in his 70s when his wife started signs of dementia. His actions destroyed the few years she had left and I'm supposed to care who killed him? For goodness sake I wanted to kill him!

I LOVE MHC, so I know I will enjoy any book she writes. Is it the greatest literature of all time? NO. Is it nice light family fun, and a pleasure to read? Yes.

This was ok... I didn't like it as much as her last book, I'll Walk Alone. It just didn't have the Mary Higgins Clark character to it that I love.

Not my favorite book by one of my favorite authors. It was a bit slow and not as suspenseful as her previous novels.

Mariah father is killed just weeks after he found a parchment that might be a letter written by Jesus. Is it real or fake? Was it stolen or hidden? Was he killed by his wife, a friend or a complete stranger? The police start investigating but Mariah doesn't feel they are on the right track as they seem to be concentrating on her mother who has Alzheimer's. As she digs deeper she finds out her father had told a family friend that some one he trusted has designs on the letter. Now Mariah has to find out who killed her father and find the letter before the killer sets their sites on her. Lots of twist and turns that make this a great read.

Such a fan of Mary Higgins Clark. I love the way she drops little hints and intesifies the suspense with each chapter.

A great read and such a creative idea. Imagine if there was a letter that Christ wrote. That would be a sight to see!
