I tried so hard to push through and finish this book, but I realized that life’s too short to read books that don’t interest you! I found myself forcing myself to read it in the hopes that it would get better… it did not. Thankfully, I got my regency fix from Bridgerton season 3 coming out midway through me suffering through this book. :)

fuck Oswald for never telling Fenella that he tricked her into marriage. also fuck him for being jealous and suspicious. would it have killed him to hear her out or give her the benefit of the doubt any one of the times that she did something that made him jealous/angry?
if i had known this book had the miscommunication trope as such a significant plot point, i wouldn’t have read it.

This one was terrific, just not as laugh out loud funny as the others I have read and a bit more tense. So 4.5 instead of a 5.
I had a few moments of dread- I could see some misunderstandings happening and the inevitable fight and fall out between characters- and I really don't like the betrayal story line in general.
The author moved past it quickly and gave Fenella someone to love and would love her fiercely, so it worked. I love the brothers, they play nicely off of each other and I am looking forward to Rolands' book- the little turd. Time for his comeuppance.
I did like the "Roberts" angle, it allowed them to both escape who they were and have some fun, and I appreciate seeing the day to day life of them both. It allows for us to understand the characters better. And Fenella- where does she get these names?? I actually liked it :)
