I LOVE the premise of this book. I'm fascinated with the world building and curious to see what happens.

But a main aspect of the story is too triggering for me so I can't continue, at least right now.

Wayyy overused the word “ablutions.”
Usually I don’t mind first person but it really irked me in this. And that only Vel’s chapters used first person made it worse. Kind of had an insta-love trope which sucks. The plot was boring. The world and characters were boring.
