I wanted more death in the resolutions, too much just okay endings and too many plotlines for a series finale

DNF… took me almost 3 months to get 50% of the way through the book. It just keep dragging and dragging and dragging. Have not decided to find out how it ends. Maybe I’ll leave it open in my digital library and come back to it just at least to finish the ending. I just have no investment in these characters anymore. And the series was so unique in its world building. If anyone wants to DM me and tell me the ending I’d be grateful for that. Save me some time. Lol

3.5ish? Gotta let this sit for a bit to deal with some character endings/stories. (Some are really well earned, others feel a bit forced/incomplete.)

Perhaps the best of the series

I'm so sad it's over but I'm so happy I was able to tag along for the ride. This series has some of the best worldbuilding, richest characters, and most fascinating magic of any fantasy series I've ever read. When I think about fantasy series that I would want to share with anyone and everyone, Between Earth and Sky might just top that list.

The climax did feel a little rushed but it didn't feel coincidental so I'm inclined to give it a pass. Generational Trauma is the true villain of the piece and that really shines through in the climax as well.

*SPOILERS*

It has been talked about ad nauseum that the relationship between Xiala and Serapio is one of the best things about this series and that keeping them apart was one of the things that weakened Fevered Star and I tend to agree BUT their reunion in this book was amazing and I was so happy for my dear friends. HOWEVER!

*MAJOR SPOILERS*

Serapio disappearing for 6 years while Xiala raises their son alone seemed like an odd choice. Like I'm overjoyed that the author didn't go for the "Chuck" ending, although I was terrified that they were setting it up. I was convinced that Serapio was not going to remember Xiala and I was ready to throw the book across the room and scream. But thankfully that didn't happen. Still . . . bruh it's been six years! Go be with your son and the woman you love! BE HAPPY SERAPIO!!!!

An incredible conclusion to the trilogy. Somehow, Roanhorse outdid herself with this third book. I didn't think the series could possibly get even better, but Mirrored Heavens is beyond my wildest dreams. It's everything I want fantasy to be: compelling and complex characters, an immersive world, plot that had me itching to read more, and deeply emotional story beats. What a way to wrap up this tale!

Such a beautiful and gripping finale to a perfect trilogy. I put off reading this book because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye, and I was scared of who I might be saying goodbye to. I fell in love with this series in 2021 when Black Sun was a required reading in my Women’s Literature class, and it only got better with each book.

Rebecca Roanhorse has a way with words that fills you with wonder. Serapio was the FIRST shadowy man I fell in love with, and he will forever be my favorite (I can look past the murder & war crimes). Xiala was unlike any character I had read before and her development over the trilogy was incredible. I am not ready to talk about Naranpa (Rebecca let’s chat). I honestly loved the ending, it felt like the perfect way to wrap things up while (hopefully) leaving it open enough for more (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE).

This entire book felt like having your heart ripped out, shredded, and then stuffed back together. Am I the same person I was before reading? No. But I laughed, I cried, and now I will sit in the dark listening to my sad playlist and contemplate how long I have to wait before doing a series reread.
