I love that all the queer characters are simply accepted as they are in the world of this book. First book/series I've read that has characters who use neopronouns. I enjoyed all the mythological aspects: Crow, Jaguar, Sun, Coyote Gods, the Mother and their avatars. It slows down in the middle and i wish some of the action was as descriptive as the rest of the world building.

I have mixed feelings. There were so much set up for an epic battle among the main players. Some of the characters and conflicts get a satisfying conclusion, but others veered off in a different direction. It really felt like the author had one vision but the editors/publishers had another. 
The world is immersive and even more elaborate than the other books so points for that.

The first book may have been my favorite. Not sure if I would’ve liked this one better in print rather than audiobook. Slowed down a bit in the middle. Some of the shifting allegiances felt less steady than the earlier world-building. The ending was satisfying overall. Didn’t always love the romance snippets in this volume.
